DR Congo split over conflict solution
By Maganga Media - May 24, 2012
Officials in the Democratic Republic of Congo are locked in disagreement over how to end violence that has escalated in recent weeks between army mutineers and government forces. Some politicians want a negotiated ceasefire while others favour an armed solution.
The clashes erupted after hundreds of troops defected from the army over low wages and poor living conditions. The fighting has forced tens of thousands of people to flee their homes to neighbouring countries. The rebel troops are thought to be fighting with support from other armed opposition groups in the region.
Reports from Ruchuru in eastern DR Congo reports on how civilians are caught in the conflict.
